Sector: Mixed Use
Client: CorraMore Construction
Architect: Formstudio London
Value: £165,000
Project background
BM Steel was appointed by our client CorraMore Construction to supply both the structural steel and the internal steel fabrications for this mixed-use development project in Tanner Street, near Tower Bridge in London. The project architect is Formstudio, a London-based RIBA Chartered practice.
Project outline
BM Steel Fabrications supplied the structural steel for this mixed-use development for our client CorraMore. We have also supplied the main spiral staircase, which is manufactured using mild steel. Due to the restrictive nature of the site and access limitations, the staircase had to be manufactured in nine pieces and shipped flat-packed to the site for reassembly.
Project challenges
This mixed-use development is located on a challenging, narrow and ultra-deep plan site at Tanner Street, near Tower Bridge in SE1. The site also poses considerable logistical challenges, so deliveries had to be staged to transport the various component parts. The installation and construction of the staircase on site took careful coordination. Due to the nature of the intricate steelwork, the fitting had to be very precise. All components supplied by BM Steel Fabrications were delivered on time and on budget.
