Project outline
One of the quirkier projects we have worked on, we’ve just completed a challenging new project for Killowen Contracts at The Junction retail centre in Antrim. Both our team and our client are really pleased with how it has turned out.
The Junction retail centre in Antrim, owned by Lotus Property, is undergoing a fantastic new £30 million redevelopment. New global retail brands such as Nando’s and TGI Fridays are anticipated to be moving in over the next couple of years. The Junction currently houses more than 30 stores, a range of food and beverage venues and a 10-screen Omniplex cinema. After the redevelopment, the scheme will comprise of four distinct quarters; food and film, home retail, supermarket and shopping, and leisure.
BM Steel Fabrications was approached by Killowen Contracts who are working on site there, to fabricate some new outdoor signage. This forms part of a wider development of the outside space, such as new road infrastructure, with a tree-lined entrance to improve access in and out of the scheme, and the creation of a public square with all-weather urban furniture.
We worked closely with the client team to make sure that we manufactured exactly what they were looking for, a large ‘J’ sign for the entrance to the centre. The signage has a structural steel frame and, on the outside, encompasses 5mm mirror finish stainless steel sheets. BM Steel undertook the manufacture, delivery and installation of the signage which now has pride of place at the entrance.
